Protein profiles changes of human aorta intima and media in atherosclerosis process
Keywords:
atherosclerosis, proteomics, aorta, protein profileAbstract
The present study was undertaken in order to examine association between various stages of atherosclerotic lesion and protein maps of human aorta intima and media. The results of the two dimensional electrophoresis of intima and media demonstrate protein profiles of various stages of atherosclerotic lesion (initial stages, lipid strips, lipofibrous plaques, fibrous plaques) versus controls (unaffected aorta sites). Protein spots that have been differentially expressed were found under unaffected intima and media sites versus lipofibrous plaques. Some of these proteins were identified using matrix assisted desorption ionisation time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry.Downloads
